Incoming Students
Immunizations, Exemptions, Insurance, & More
All incoming students are required to complete a full health history form through the TCU Student Health Portal. Students must also meet all university health requirements before they can register for classes. First-year students should take care of these steps before orientation.
All incoming students must comply with the vaccination requirements to register for classes at TCU. Both dates and records must be submitted on the TCU Student Health Portal. Students must enter the dates of their vaccinations and upload supporting documents.
Required Vaccines
- Meningitis ACYW

Steps to Take if You Can’t Find Your Vaccination Records
If you are having trouble locating your records, you have a few options:
Try to find the records.
This is the best option if possible. Getting immunized or doing lab work is more involved, so we recommend taking extra steps to locate your original records first.
Get vaccinated now.
If you’re not sure whether you received the MMR vaccines as a child, get immunized now. Adults need two doses, spaced 28 days apart.
Prove immunity with a blood test.
If you believe you’ve already had the MMR vaccines, you can ask your doctor to run a blood test (called a titer) to confirm immunity.
Vaccination Exemptions
Students born before 1957 are automatically exempt from the MMR (Measles, Mumps, & Rubella) requirement.
Students older than 22 are automatically exempt from the Meningitis requirement.
Non-exempt students with immunity to Measles and Mumps with missing vaccination records may submit positive titer results proving their immunity.
Students with a medical reason for not getting a required vaccine are exempt with a signed note from a doctor (MD or DO). The signed note is only valid for one year unless your doctor states that you have a life-long condition.
Students with a non-medical reason for not getting a required vaccine should follow these steps per Texas law:
- Review the Benefits and Risks of Vaccination.
- Download and print the Blank Affidavit Exemption from School or Child-Care Immunizations for Reasons of Conscience form, Stock No. F11-11755
- Fill and sign the affidavit before a Notary Public of Texas to have the form notarized.
- Upload the notarized affidavit to the Student Health Portal.
Veterans and Active Duty Military Exemption
The United States Armed Forces have higher immunization standards than TCU. For their convenience, students who are veterans or active duty military may submit proof of their service in lieu of the MMR requirement. These can be uploaded to the patient portal the same way as an Immunization Record above. Note that students under 22 still need to provide exact records of Meningitis A vaccination in compliance with state law.
In order to come into compliance with the university’s health requirements, students must submit their health history and vaccination records on the TCU Student Health Portal. Students may access the portal using their TCU username and password.
When you have logged in to the portal, you will need to do three things:
- Go to the Immunizations page and enter the dates of your Meningitis vaccination and your two MMR vaccinations.
- Go to the Upload page to submit the corresponding vaccination records.
- Go to the Forms page and complete the Student Health History form.
Note: If you do not have a TCU username and password, you should begin at newuser.tcu.edu. It will take 24 hours after creating your username and password for you to then be able to log in to the Student Health Portal.
