Undergraduates registered for less than nine hours and Graduate students are NOT REQUIRED to carry health insurance but have the option to specifically ELECT the University-offered plan.
An undergraduate who is REQUIRED to carry health insurance and who has adequate coverage through a family/individual policy that will remain in effect throughout the 2009-10 academic year, must WAIVE. If not waived by the deadline of September 2, 2009, the student will be automatically enrolled in and billed for the University-offered plan.
You may ELECT, or WAIVE out of, the university-offered plan by logging in to your My TCU home page by entering your TCU username and password. If you are a currently enrolled student (someone who has already registered for class) you will see a "Health Center" link appear on the left hand side of the screen . Click on that link and you will see an option to "Elect/Waive". Continue to the next screens until you can choose to ELECT or WAIVE the insurance. If you WAIVE the insurance you MUST give us the name of your insurance company and either the insurance ID/Group/Policy number in the spaces provided on the WAIVE screen. Be sure you click on SUBMIT to finalize either choice.
Things to keep in mind:
* Parents may not ELECT/WAIVE insurance for the student +
* Students may ELECT/WAIVE 24 hours after they have registered for class
* Students that waive for the fall semester will NOT have to waive for the spring semester*
* Students that choose to WAIVE, MUST WAIVE each fall semester**
**Because some family policies change from year to year we must keep your insurance information updated each year.
+ Only enrolled student username/passwords are capable of modifying any student account information.
The information above has been provided to help you make an intelligent, informed choice.
